Sacred Tangents

Heidi and Jaymi sit down for the first time in a few weeks. A lot has happened in the world at large. The assassination of Charlie Kirk and the unfolding events since then are too big to ignore. A shift has happened culturally in the USA. What could be on the horizon for our nation and the church? What is our role as Christians in all of it? We’re back! We sat down with nothing and ended up with something (I think?) Heidi chats about her hyper-fixations and rediscovering Jesus while Jaymi compares her to the prodigal son and ends with do it lady. All in all it’s a pretty normal sacred tangent episode with Jaymi & Heidi. Enjoy :) 

Jaymi and Heidi tangent about their inside voices. The still small voice, the internal critic, the voices of culture and society, the voices of friends, parents etc. Jaymi tries to articulate what the voices actually sound like or feel while Heidi asks questions and mhm like it’s her job. This one felt extra tangenty and processy. Enjoy this bts into our brains.(mostly Jaymi’s this time) 

This week Heidi and Jaymi confess their latest strange addiction(it’s not pornographic but it is?) Listen for more context. We dip our toes into the waters of parenting and talk through some of the standout points of the chapter with plenty of tangents in between. Parenting is hard and we’re learning as we go like everyone else but the good news is we’re giggling a lot along the way. 

In this episode we take a brief intermission from 12 Rules. We sit down, hit record and talk extemporaneously(look it up) about whatever pops into our brain. We discuss podcasting for 10,000 hours, Heidi gets personal about currently being humbled yay, we get into caring what other people think etc. We kept it short you're welcome. Enjoy. :)

Jaymi and Heidi find themselves again pulling on life's loose threads this week. Imbibing on Jordan Petersons 4th rule of the 12 he has for life. "Compare yourself to who you were yesterday, not who someone else is today. This one was encouraging, we hope you find as much life in this conversation as we did. 

Jewelry stores (who's shopping there?), show and tell, and most of all friendship tangents. Jaymi and Heidi discuss the nuances and wade through more friendship questions. The last 15 minutes gets good. Hang in there friends, we're going somewhere, eventually.

Jaymi and Heidi bemoan the fact that this rule is particularly hard for both of them. We delve into why that might be and why its hard to change even though we know the right thing to do. Heidi shares a traumatic driving story and Jaymi once again updates us all on the current state of the office. 

Heidi and Jaymi start a new series based off 12 Rules for Life by Jordan Peterson.  Heidi starts off with a public apology and nerds out about JP. Jaymi establishes that humans are lobsters and outs Heidi's snarky behavior. We both do our best to articulate the science-y, biological and psychological topics of the first chapter and discuss the impact that JP has had on our lives. (It’s a lot)
